Associate Orchestra Concerto Competition Winner


Jasper Wang, 15, is a freshman at Palo Alto High School. He studies clarinet with Mark Brandenburg and previously with Susan Macy. His achievements include second place in the 2017 International Golden Era of Romantic Music Competition in American Fine Arts Festival and first place in the 2017 USIMC Young Artist Award. He had the honor to perform in Carnegie Hall in Oct, 2017.

Jasper embarked on his music journey at the age of four when he started learning piano. He tried other instruments, such as the alto saxophone, but clarinet has always been his favorite. It is the fourth year for Jasper to be part of CYS, from Wind Ensemble I to Associate Orchestra. He has served as the principal clarinetist for CYS Associate Orchestra for two years and enjoyed working with all the musicians.

Jasper is an active Life scout in Troop 5. He has been the patrol leader and the assistant senior patrol leader for the troop. He also participated in the benefit concerts in the Sunrise Senior Center in 2017. In addition, Jasper is the team leader for the Palo Alto KWHS(Knowledge@Wharton High School) investment team. Besides music, Jasper also likes to draw, play golf and trade stocks.
