Tours
Music Director | Leo Eylar
"The outstanding musicianship on display at this final concert before their two-week tour of Spain confirmed that these young musicians will represent us with distinction in their role as musical ambassadors overseas." ~ Paul Cummings, San Mateo Weekly
In 1963, California Youth Symphony became the first American youth orchestra ever to tour overseas when we accepted an invitation to visit Japan. Over the following years, twenty (20) additional tours to all parts of the world have earned us universal praise. This rich tradition of international touring provides students with unparalleled experiences and invaluable opportunities to perform abroad in internationally prestigious venues, as well as to experience different cultures. CYS tours are an amazing bonding experience for students and a preciously cherised memory for alumni.
In June and July of 2018, the CYS Orchestra embarked on its twentieth international tour to The Baltics and Sweden, presenting four concerts to rapturous responses from capacity audiences.
